4.75" in translucent white chert, complete with choice preservation, intact with no repairs or restorations, microscopic mineral deposits in surface crevices.

In addition to their practical uses, Aztec knives also had significant ritual and ceremonial value. The Aztecs believed that blood had a sacred quality and that human sacrifice was necessary to appease their gods. Knives were used in the ritual sacrifice of captives and volunteers and were believed to release the power of the blood and appease the gods.
