Item: PC503 Pre-Columbian Aztec Knife

Found Location: Mexico

4.75" in translucent white chert, complete with choice preservation, intact with no repairs or restorations, microscopic mineral deposits in surface crevices.

In addition to their practical uses, Aztec knives also had significant ritual and ceremonial value. The Aztecs believed that blood had a sacred quality and that human sacrifice was necessary to appease their gods. Knives were used in the ritual sacrifice of captives and volunteers and were believed to release the power of the blood and appease the gods.

Found Location: Black Sea Region - Ukraine

Exceptionally Rare and intact. Typical "Butterfly" blade guard present. Integral handle with the pommel. Iron treated and stabilized.

True Black Sea Region Scythian weapons are extremely scarce in the open market. These objects were not only tools but weapons that this nomadic culture used for their nomadic lifestyle.
